Mark 12:30-31
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’  The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’  There is no commandment greater than these.”
 
In these 2 short verses, Jesus summarizes all of the commandments – love God and love your neighbor.  Have you always loved God, obeyed God, honored His name, loved your neighbor, spoke truthfully with your neighbor?  If you are honest with yourself, you haven’t always loved God and loved your neighbor.  This is the reason that God sent Jesus to earth. 
 
The bad news is that the entire world has violated God’s standard – love God and love your neighbor.  The good news is that God has provided a way for you to be saved through the death of Jesus if you repent of your sins and trust in Christ to be saved.  This is the heart of the Gospel.
