Matthew 28:18-20And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,  teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
 

 
 
The purpose in Jesus coming to earth was to die for our sins, to pay the price that we deserved to pay.  His death and resurrection didn't take him by surprise.  As recorded in 3 of the Gospel accounts, Jesus predicted his death and resurrection.
 
 
Matthew 17:22   Now while they were staying in Galilee, Jesus said to them, “The Son of Man is about to be betrayed into the hands of men,  and they will kill Him, and the third day He will be raised up.” And they were exceedingly sorrowful.
 
 

 
 
Luke 10:25-37
25 And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested Him, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”
26 He said to him, “What is written in the law? What is your reading of it?”

Proverbs 13:20  He who walks with wise men will be wise, but the companion of fools with suffer harm.

Throughout the Christian life we need to stay humble…
Humble realizing our sin.
Humble realizing who we are and who God is.
Humble realizing our salvation in Christ.
Humble realizing that we so easily stray and we need God’s help each and every moment.

 
 
 
The Birth of Jesus

Christ is the ultimate example of true humility.  He humbled himself to being willing to die a criminal's death on the cross to pay for my sin.

Psalm 27:4   One thing I have desired of the Lord, that will I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in His temple.
