Bible Thought of the Week

Read a short story about sheep, grass, and snow...

This afternoon, I read a short story that relates to 2 Bible passages…

A little girl was once looking at a sheep as it ate green grass.  She thought to herself how nice and white the sheep looked against the green grass.  Then it began to snow.  The little girl then thought how dirty the sheep looked against the white snow.  It was the same sheep, but with a different background.

When we compare ourselves to the background of man’s standards, we come up reasonably white and clean.  Compared to other people, we don’t see the wickedness of our sin.

Anger

Read the Proverb of the Week

When dealing with an angry person in a tournament, here is something to consider...

Proverb 15:1
A soft answer turns away wrath, but grievious words stir up anger.

Bible Passage of the Week

A Psalm of David

23 The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
3 He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

The Unknown Day

Bible Passages of the Week

Acts 17:30-31
Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead.

No one knows the day or hour of His coming.

Matthew 24:36-27

The Good News of Jesus Christ - Part 14

Learn what the Bible says about God's moral law

The reason the Jesus came to earth was to pay for our sins.  So what is sin?

Sin (by definition) is - transgression of the law.  By law, it means the moral law of God, as summarily found in the 10 commandments.

In Romans 7:7 the Apostle Paul says, “I would not have known sin, except through the law.”

Easter

Read about the witnesses of the resurrection of Jesus Christ

The Good News of Jesus Christ - Part 13

Thoughts about Easter Sunday

As Easter is just around the corner, you might be thinking about the resurrection of Jesus Christ.  For the Christian, it is very significant.  The resurrection proved that Jesus claimed to be who he said he was, the resurrection proved that He had and has power over death, the resurrection gives the Christian confidence that we serve a risen Savior.
I was recently reading some thoughts about the resurrection and I thought that you might be interested in reading them as well.

My Hope

Philippians 3:20-21

I just finished playing the US National Team Trials in Fort Worth, TX.  I gave 100% effort on every match and suffered a devastating loss to Jim Butler on the final day with ended my chances of making the US Team.  I gave it my best to win, and I'm not discouraged from the loss.  I love life and love playing tt but I also have the hope of eternal life in heaven.  This afternoon, I was encouraged by a Bible verse in Philippians...

Bible FAQs

Read Some Questions That People Are Asking...

While traveling for table tennis events, I have had many opportunities to speak to players about the good news of Jesus Christ.  There have been several questions that come up frequently and I would like to take the time to answer them in this blog post

Question:            Samson, is it narrow-minded to think that Jesus is the only way to God?  Aren’t there other ways to reach heaven?
