Should you play your biggest, wildest, fastest forehand possible?
Or, should you just push and block hoping not to make a mistake?
The answer is neither. You should try your best to play the appropriate strategy on the appropriate ball. You just won 4 consecutive points. There is no reason for you to go extreme just because you have match point.
1. You should try to play a very low, deceptive serve to a good location based how your opponent has previously received your serve in the last 5 games.
2. You should try to attack when possible.
3. You should try to stay consistent when defending and focus on placement.
The answer is not 100% power or 100% defense. The answer is to play the appropriate strategy on the appropriate ball. Shot selection and consistency are the keys to winning close games!
