So, I asked the question on facebook...
"If you got hourly pay of what you SHOULD get, how much would you get paid? How much is your time worth?"
I received many responses via messenger and on my wall. Some people said $30 or $40 or $200 per hour. These people value their time. So let's use $50/hour as an example. What if I told you that I could save you 150 hours of time? So 150 x 50 = $7500. That would be worth $7500, right?
So how does this relate to table tennis????????
So far this month, I have 170 lessons booked for private lessons online. Why are all these domestic and international people signing up for lessons? ...BECAUSE THEY VALUE THEIR TIME. For example, if normally it would take them 200 hours to learn a particular skill - like backhand flip or forehand counterloop or sidespin push - they know that with 4-8 private lessons, they can learn that skill in 50 hours. See, private online lessons don't make you amazing. Private online lessons point you in the right direction, give you a step-by-step process to develop it, keep you motivated and accountable to continue developing it, and help you understand how this new skill links to your game!
But some might argue... private lessons are too expensive. The hourly rate is too high! Remember, you aren't paying for the hours. You are paying for the information. These skills took decades to develop and they are coming to you in the form of a 30 min or 60 min lesson.
One other thing to consider... travel time! If you fly to Ohio or Maryland or California for 3 days of private lessons, how much does it cost? It averages to around $200-$350/hour. Let me give you a breakdown...
Flight $300
Hotel for 3 nights $240
Rental car $90
Food $150
Private Lessons $70 x 6 = $420
So 6 hours of private lessons is $1200 for 6 hours averaging $200/hour.
If you take into account that you lost 3 days of paid work at $300/day, then it cost you $2100 for 6 hours or $350/hour.
So, yes, skype or facetime private lessons are expensive, but worth it. In conclusion, here are the final points that I want to make.
#1 Yes, we are still taking sign-ups!
#2 Yes, you can do it from the convenience of your own house!
#3 Yes, you are guaranteed to learn just as much from a private online lesson as you would at an in-person lesson!
#4 Yes, all ages and all level are allowed!
#5 Yes, you can sign up even if you don't live in the US!
#6 Yes, multiple family members can share the lesson with no additional cost!
