Eat to Win

Learn the Details About Meals

Most professional athletes have very strict diets.  They feast for breakfast eating heathly food with good carbohydrates, eat normal for lunch, and eat a bit lighter for dinner.

Why do they eat so much early in the day?  They eat large amounts of food to fuel their workouts.  Without the proper carbohydrate intake, they cannot give 100% to practice because they run out of energy after 1-2 hours.  The large intake of food in the morning is what fuels their workout.

Why do they eat a normal size lunch?  Because they ate so much food earlier in the day, they can just re-fuel for lunch.  Without a good breakfast, they would be at a deficit for the rest of the day.

Why do they eat light before going to bed?  At night, they don’t need a large meal for sleeping.

Throughout the day, these athletes also drink plenty of fluids.  On the training days, most pro athletes drink about 8-10 quarts of water.  On the resting days, most pro athletes drink about 4-5 quarts of water.  Dehydration is one of the main reasons that tt players become so fatigued and lose energy during training and tournaments.

Snacking is another great way to maintain energy.  Proper meal planning and having healthy snacks available is one of the best ways to avoid grabbing chips from the vending machine or a big mac meal from the drive through.  Fuel your workout properly and you will be able to maintain a healthy weight while giving your best through every training session.
