MORE PRACTICE!
Why are they bad words?
These 2 words seems so harmless.
Doesn’t everyone in the US need to practice more?
No, US players don’t need to ONLY practice more. They need to have a plan of what to practice, they need details on what to focus on during practice, they need a structure to understand how their games should progress, and they need more practice in the right environment practicing the right aspects.
In table tennis, recognition is very important... regardless if you are a beginner 7-year-old, senior citizen trying to make progress, or Olympic gold medalist. Last year, I was racking my brain trying to figure out a way to feature the beginners at our weekly league. How can I put them in the spotlight for 5 min? How can I feature a 1500-rated play or a 500 rated player can make him the champion for the night?
Each year, I write one article directed to coaches. For my 2018 article, I’m only going to give one piece of advice. But before I give it, I’m going to build some context.
Most table tennis players believe that there are two types of coaches – type A and type B. It is true, that 99% of the coaches that I personally have met fall roughly into one of these categories. Today, I’m going to present type C.

We recently heard back from ITTF that, YES, Bluetooth Coaching is now legal under the USATT and ITTF rules. The Samson Dubina Table Tennis Academy will be moving forward with the idea using it in leagues and tournaments to best prepare our players for the US Nationals in July! One important point to remember is that communication is only allowed between points and it is NOT allowed during the point.
Video examples and tips about bluetooth coaching will be available soon.
Check back within the next few weeks!
We all know TT is widely played by a variety of people both young and old at many different levels. Most use the game as a fun activity while hanging with friends and family.
Many who've played consistently have most likely visited a club near them at one time or another where they found friendly competition as well as challenging matches.
